Is there a cancellation fee if I cancel after making a reservation?

For reservations made only by phone, no cancellation fee is required. However, if you have purchased a boarding ticket in advance at our window or through a travel agency, you must cancel it through the place of purchase and a standard cancellation fee will apply.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Reservations are required for vehicles. Passenger capacity is also limited, including Standard Class, so we recommend booking as early as possible once your travel date is confirmed.

When can I start to make reservations?

Reservations for passengers and vehicles open one month before the travel date on the corresponding calendar date. Reservations open at 8:30 a.m. at the Kagoshima office on weekdays and Saturdays, and at 9:00 a.m. at the Tokyo and Okinawa sales offices on weekdays. (* If the same day one month prior falls on a holiday, reservations will start from the next business day.)

How much carry-on baggage can I bring on board?

Each passenger may bring up to two pieces of carry-on baggage on board, with a combined weight of no more than 30 kg and with the sum of the three dimensions not exceeding 2 m per applicable baggage allowance.
Baggage exceeding these limits must be checked as checked baggage or handled under another applicable baggage category.

*If checking baggage, please complete the procedure at least 30 minutes before departure.

Do I need to reserve checked baggage in advance?

No advance reservation is required for checked baggage. Please request the service at the ticket counter when completing your boarding procedures on the day of travel.
Each passenger may check up to two pieces of baggage, provided the sum of the three dimensions is no more than 2 m and the combined weight is no more than 30 kg. We may accept more than two pieces when we determine that doing so will not interfere with operations.
*We cannot accept platinum, gold or other precious metals, coins or banknotes, securities, revenue stamps, jewelry, works of art, antiques, or other valuables, including precision equipment such as cameras and telescopes, as checked baggage. *We may also refuse baggage that is inadequately packed, fragile, emits an odor, is unsanitary, or may otherwise inconvenience or endanger other passengers. How do I proceed with boarding?

● Passengers
Complete the “Boarding Application Form” available at the ticket counter at each port, including your reservation number and other required information. Submit the form at the counter and pay the applicable fare and charges. The same procedure is required for passengers holding a ticket exchange voucher purchased through a travel agency or other seller.
• If you do not have checked baggage, special baggage, etc., please complete boarding procedures at least 1 hour before departure.
• As a general rule, check-in closes 30 minutes before departure. If you arrive late, you may not be able to board your reserved sailing. Counters may also become crowded during peak periods, so please allow plenty of time.

● Accompanied vehicles
• For departures from Kagoshima, vehicle check-in must be completed at least 2 hours before departure for Amami Oshima and Tokunoshima, and at least 2 hours 30 minutes before departure for Okinoerabu Island, Yoron Island, and Okinawa Island. *Different procedures may apply from late March to early April; please confirm in advance. For departures from other ports, vehicle check-in must be completed at least 1 hour before departure. Failure to do so will be treated as a cancellation.
• You must present your vehicle inspection certificate when completing vehicle transport procedures. If your cargo extends beyond the vehicle’s overall length, the fare will be calculated based on the vehicle’s actual total length including the load.

● Checked baggage, special baggage, and pet room
• These procedures are completed after you have checked in as a passenger at your departure port.
• Passengers using checked baggage, special baggage, or the pet room must complete their own passenger check-in at least 1 hour 30 minutes before departure from Kagoshima, or at least 1 hour before departure from other ports.
• At Kagoshima New Port, passenger and accompanied-vehicle check-in is handled on the 3rd floor of the Amami & Okinawa Ferry Terminal. Checked and special baggage procedures are handled on the 1st floor of the same terminal.

Is there a charge for bringing a bicycle on board?

A folding bicycle packed in a bicycle carrying bag or similar case is treated as carry-on baggage and may be brought on board free of charge.
*If a folding bicycle is folded but not packed in a carrying bag, it is treated as checked baggage and the checked-baggage fare applies. If it is not folded, it is treated as special baggage and the special-baggage fare applies.

What is the difference between the second-class sleeper and the second-class Western-style room on the Queen Coral Plus?

A Standard Berth is in an 8-person room with four bunk-bed units and a window. A Standard Western-style Room accommodates 60 passengers in 30 bunk-bed units and has no windows.
*The bed size is the same in both room types.
*Depending on the route, the Western-style Room surcharge ranges from ¥310 to ¥1,040, while the Standard Berth surcharge ranges from ¥630 to ¥6,280. Please see the fare table for details.

鹿児島市内各バス停から鹿児島新港までタクシーで約10分~15分かかります。 Also, there is a Port Liner (bus route) operating to coincide with the departure time. It departs from Kagoshima Central Station at 16:30, passes through Tenmonkan at 16:35, and arrives at Kagoshima New Port at 16:50.
